Dawn Chorus

I was struck by the birdsong this morning. It seems odd to call it dawn chorus so late in the day; after the commuters have wended their way to the station. But the sky was only just beginning to show signs of light to come.
It makes me wonder, why do we sleep through so much of the day in Summer and work through so much of the night in winter?

Do we measure our days by the wrong things?
Would we be happier and healthier if we lived closer to nature?

  1. “Would we be happier and healthier if we lived closer to nature?” Probably, but we’re here. Most of us can only snatch at moments as they pass.

  2. RoSy says:

    I wish…
But – gotta’ work to make a living & pay the bills.

  3. Yes, it would have to be done as a community, not just individuals. I’ve a feeling this might be inspiring a new post!

  4. Monks and nuns often wake up earlier for their meditation or prayer. They witness the early mornings. I second your question. It is such a shame to miss the early bird songs.
