Garden of life

Bulb: dried up, looks dead
Planted, blooms for years and years
Everlasting joy.

Our life is like a garden; we can plant habits, attitudes, behaviour patterns deep within our soul that will naturally bloom in season without any further effort on our part.
We can do some instant gardening with bedding plants; delightful big results. But short-lived and needing repeated effort time after time.
Maybe the best answer is to create a balanced life with some of each?
