Blue candle

blue candle DSCN4375

A prayer
Need not have words
It can be
A candle
Lit to represent
A heartfelt
Deep desire.

A large blue candle burned
A while each day
For many, many days
For weeks
And months
Once words ran out
To pray a prayer
For someone dear
Till at last
It too burnt out
The wick too short
To stand in molten wax.

  1. Beautiful. You had me at a prayer need not not have words. Really lovely!

  2. 🙂
Maybe it is a particular temptation to those of us who love to write that we think words can do everything. And sometimes they just can’t.
